Sinh a tupe skirt, the identity of Lao women
Although Laos doesn't have solid information on the development of their textiles in written form, but the textiles have been described a number of times in ancient literature, in the history of the neighboring countries such as: Chinese and Vietanamese. Especially during Tang Dynasty of China (618-906AD) There was a not in Chinese history referring to Lao, admiring the skill of Lao people in raising silk worms, and perfecting silk fabric as smooth fine product with beautiful colours. The note also told about Chinese merchants who come to Laos for trading, exchanging of Lao silk with goods from China. And Lao women were described as wearing Sinh, the high ranking women wore Sinh made of silk with silk waist band.
